August/September Newsletter

Monthly Update: Howdy, ya’ll! This is Zoé back with our monthly review of activities from August and upcoming news for September and October! We are currently in the process of making John Welch, one of our OSW members, our organizer and leader for The Navigators club. Also, Amy Welch is entering into a new role as our OSW Community Educator. Also, we currently have 10 kids signed up for OSW tutoring, which means we are going to be able to help those kiddos gain their confidence in school, hopefully, encourage them to continue to learn every day. Just a reminder that the biggest way to help is by AWARENESS. Please share our website, social media pages, and our upcoming events. In addition to this, OSW is at Royal Pines for Sunday Services every other week.

Monthly Devotional: “Stay alert, stand firm in the faith, show courage, be strong. Everything you do should be done in love.” — 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 (NET). As followers of Christ, we’re called to live out our faith even when it’s uncomfortable or unpopular. Standing up for what you believe doesn’t always look like confrontation; sometimes it’s the quiet choice to act with integrity, to extend forgiveness, to speak truth in love, or to refuse compromise when it would be easier to go along with the crowd. Just as OSW began under an oak tree, outside of tradition, God often calls us to step beyond our comfort zones so His light can shine in dark places. We challenge you to be courageous to live your faith out loud and to ensure your actions and decisions reflect Christ. Pray for our country, our community, and for the ability to shine a light for those we encounter daily.

Funds Update (for August): OSW spent $200.00 to reserve Hillside 91 for our OSW Christmas Appreciation Gala in December.
